Frequently asked questions about registrations and procedures
Notenspur-Nacht der Hausmusik – Night of Home-made Music
We invite you to be part of it!
The love of music of the people of Saxony is proverbial, for music has been played in their families and homes for centuries. We want to make this long tradition audible when house music concerts are given in many private rooms in the city, the Leipzig region and in North Saxony.
When will the Notenspur Night of House Music take place?
The Notenspur Night of House Music will take place on November 25, 2023. The uniform start time for all events is 7 p.m.
Will only classical music be played?
Almost every style of music is represented that can be performed in a smaller circle and usually without technical amplification. The bandwidth of previous house music nights has been very wide - a cappella music, folk, early music, baroque/renaissance music, klezmer, singer/songwriter, oldies, rock, classical, romantic, jazz ... everything has been heard.
Who can participate?
Hosts,
- who open their doors not only for music-loving friends, but also for (still) strangers
- whose apartments, studios, offices or practices are big enough for it
- who like to be hosts and would like to fulfill this role at the Hausmusik- Nacht
- who would like to make music themselves, organize musicians themselves or make use of our mediation service for musicians
Musicians,
- who have enjoyed a sound musical education
- who enjoy making music together and would like to share their love of music with other people
- who are curious and accept the challenge of making music outside the concert halls in a small setting
- have a suitable apartment themselves or would like to make use of our placement service for musicians
What else do I need to know as a host?
Before you decide to help host the Notenspur Night of House Music, please consider the following points:
Hygiene rules: We do not know now if there will be Corona rules to follow in November and if so, in what form. If there should be regulations, am I willing to comply?
Seating capacity: We will - due to possible corona-related restrictions exceptionally - ask your possible seating capacities only in October. Generally, hosts provide 50% of their space capacity for public visitor placement.
Communication: If you would like to become a host, then you are also a "concert organizer" and bear responsibility for a successful house music evening! Please communicate with your musicians and visitors well in advance!
Host role: Do I want to let strangers into my home? Am I open-minded and communicative? No one expects you to feed your guests for an evening, but it would be nice if you provide glasses and plates for things you have brought and welcome your guests and musicians with a drink - water, coffee, tea. At the beginning of the concert, you should introduce yourself and the musicians.
House music: Please preserve the character of a house music event. This thrives on intimacy, mutual respect and a relaxed atmosphere, as well as opportunities for conversation among hosts, guests and musicians.
Photos: We ask in the registration forms if photography is permitted. This information will be sent to you as the host. Please ask your guests not to photograph other guests and also the musicians without being asked and also not to make any recordings or videos.
Visitors: If visitors offend against good manners, disturb the event or do not want to adhere to possible hygiene rules, then you may of course make use of your domiciliary rights and send the guest home.
GEMA: You do not have to take care of the registration of the played music with the Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte (GEMA), we will take care of that.
How can I register?
You can register by filling out a form. There all data are collected, which are necessary for the creation of an event or for the mediation between hosts and musicians.
There are 3 different forms:
- For hosts who are also musicians or have found musician friends to perform with them.
- For hosts who are still without musicians
- For musicians who do not have suitable premises themselves and are looking for a host
Is registration also possible by telephone?
Unfortunately, registration by telephone or letter is not possible. If necessary, ask "networked" friends or family members for assistance or arrange a visit to our office.
How does the mediation work?
For hosts without musicians: After your registration, in which you can indicate wishes regarding the music style, we will offer you a music contribution (if suitable musicians have already registered; please be patient!). If you do not agree with our offer, we will start a 2nd attempt.
Unfortunately, we can not fulfill all wishes, because sometimes the demand exceeds the supply of suitable music contributions. So we can not guarantee a placement! Therefore, it is advantageous if you, as a host, continue to look for musicians yourself in your circle of acquaintances.
For musicians without own premises: According to your information and the wishes of the hosts, we will look for a possible house music venue for you. If you do not agree with our offer, we will start a 2nd attempt. Usually we can arrange all musicians, but we cannot guarantee it.
