Music in the "Green", in Urban Spaces and in Unusual Places
In order to enable a different kind of musical experience, detached from the big stages, concerts in unusual places, in connection with nature or integrated into the public space are part of the European Music Trails.
Music in Urban Spaces
In order to bring Leipzig's architectural and musical heritage to life, tours and performances in the city centre are an integral part of the Notenspur concept. However, Leipzig's musical history is not just about the famous composers, but also the musical context of their time. Johann Sebastian Bach, for example, not only incorporated the French dances that were popular at the time into his compositions, he was also a good dancer himself.
Saturday, 14.09.2024 - On the Trail of Dance: theatrical guided tour with live music and dance
10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., meeting point: Naschmarkt Leipzig, in front of the Old Stock Exchange, duration approx. 1:45 h.
The event is free of charge, but registration is recommended due to limited space: rademacker(at)notenspur-leipzig.de
In cooperation with con spirito - Das Leipziger Kammermusikfestival.
Explore Leipzig's city centre with a dancing couple and three musicians with historical instruments, all dressed in baroque costumes. Enjoy performances and music that bring Leipzig's dance and music scene in the Baroque and Rococo periods back to life.
During this theatrical walking concert, you will learn lots of interesting facts about the city's dancing masters, the first opera, theatre life, famous composers, book and music printers and the amusements at the Leipzig Trade Fair. At the end, you might even dance a little instructed contredanse yourself – just like in Bach's day.
In case of rain, the event will still take place: as a theatrical lecture with live music and dance in the summer hall of the Bose House (Bach Museum, Thomaskirchhof 15/16).
